5 foam
lifehacks
5 hacks for ANYONE to get more out of foam!
Super popular, super satisfying AND saves your paint from scratches while you wash! So, what else can you do with foam?
1 Brush into the details
While you wait.
Foam like usual, and let it soak in
After you foam, you've got a few minutes to kill as it soaks in.
Make mini circles with your brush
Grab a soft detailing brush and work the foam deep into the details - trying to avoid paintwork - where grit & grime could be hiding.
Rinse out thoroughly
Make sure you fire your pressure washer into the areas you scrubbed.
2 Boost power with APC
To add a kick for tough washes.
Add 30ml of APC to your foam bottle
Add 70ml of foam.
Add 30ml of APC.
Top up with water to make a solution of 750ml. Learn how to get your solution right here.
Foam the whole car
As you do normally, if you see the foam start to dry on the car, you've waited too long! This will leave stains, rinse before you see this.
Rinse off thoroughly before it dries on
Again, like you do normally. If you've missed a bit you could create stains - not to mention the grime being held by the foam.
Warning - APC is STRONG. If you use too much in your foam solution you can remove some effects of your coating, and if you let it dry on your paint you will leave permanent stains!
3 Add a base layer of Bug & Grime
Save some time and let your insect remover soak for longer.
Spray Bug & Grime anywhere it's needed
Bug remover is an important step in any pre-wash. If you haven't got time to spray, rinse, foam, rinse, shampoo, rinse etc. Then try combining Bug & Grime and foam.
First, spray the grimiest areas.
Foam the whole car immediately
You definitely don't want to leave Bug & Grime on for too long, it's a powerful product - so add your layer of foam immediately to keep the moisture level up.
Rinse off thoroughly
Once it's soaked for a few minutes, rinse like you do normally. Once again, if you've missed a bit you could create stains - not to mention the grime being held by the foam.
4 Add a base layer of wheel cleaner
For a super satisfying wheel cleaning experience.
Spray your wheels thoroughly
Mist all 4 of your rims with Iron Wheel Cleaner - every surface, inside and out.
Foam the whole car immediately
Foam over the top - along with the rest of the car.
Scrub the wheels and enjoy the oozing!
Now's the time to scrub - grab your wheeb mitt / brush and make quick work of cleaning all 4 wheels. Make sure you work quick enough to rinse the foam off the rest of the car in time.
This is another time-saver. Once again the best choice is to do each step separately. If you want to make some viral content, now's the time - this is what the people want, oozing purple rims amplified by foam!
5 NEVER scrub with foam!
Unless you want to cover your car with wash swirls.
We know, it looks satisfying
This one's a big red flag - and one we see almost every day on social media. With plenty of likes and views, and leaving plenty of wash swirls too.
You'll scrub the grit into your paint
Pre-wash foam lifts grit & grime, so you DON'T TOUCH IT with your wash mitt. Then when you use shampoo, there's a much smaller chance of scratching your paint with your mitt.
Foam with shampoo instead
If you really want to:
Foam first with a dedicated pre-wash foam & rinse it off thoroughly.
Put shampoo in your foam lance, foam the car and wash it with your wash mitt.
Is it the best way to wash? No, but at least all the grit is gone before you start washing.
