SCHOLL Concepts SOFTouch TopWool Pads feature an innovative sandwich-style construction that combines the advantages of natural wool with those of a foam pad. This is achieved via the inclusion of an interfacing layer of soft thermally reticulated foam, which affords greater flexibility and pressure control. The result is a hybrid pad design that offers the high cutting performance of a traditional lambswool pad and the ease of use of a normal foam pad. SCHOLL Concepts SOFTouch TopWool Pads are therefore ideal for professional detailers seeking maximum cutting performance and optimum handling when working with SCHOLL Concepts compounds and one-step polishes on intermediate and hard paint types. Efficiency is improved because natural wool fibres eliminate sanding marks and deep scratches up to 30% faster then normal foam polishing pads, while safety is also improved because wool naturally absorbs much of the heat generated during the polishing process, thus reducing the risk of overheating or burning the paint. With regard to automotive polishing pads, it is a well-established fact that the unique properties of natural wool fibres offer up to 30% more cut compared to polyurethane foams. An additional advantage of natural wool is its ability to drastically reduce the amount of heat generated during the polishing process, due to the heat-absorbing characteristics of wool fibres. However, despite these benefits, many professional detailers continue to avoid wool pads, preferring instead to use normal foam polishing pads. Research conducted by SCHOLL Concepts shows that, although many detailers welcome the high cutting performance of natural fibre pads, for reasons of usability, they prefer to work with foam pads, mainly because it is much easier to work with a highly flexible foam pad on uneven and highly curved surfaces. Based on these findings, SCHOLL Concepts have redesigned their wool pads to incorporate a thin layer of foam between the natural wool fibres and the hook and loop backing disc. The result is their SOFTouch TopWool Pads, which cut like traditional wool pads yet handle like normal foam pads.
