Wetsanding with a random orbital sander or polisher is a tricky skill to master, because abrasive discs rarely feature any kind of padding to absorb off-axis movements. As a result, it can be all too easy to exert too much pressure in the transitional zones when working on curved surfaces. RUPES factored this into the design process for their 125 mm X-Cut Abrasive Discs, and developed the 125 mm Soft Interface Pad to improve safety and performance.

The RUPES 125 mm Soft Interface Pad is made of a layer of polyurethane foam sandwiched between durable hook and loop facings, and is designed to enhance the sanding performance of the RUPES LHR 12E Duetto BigFoot Polisher. It does this by absorbing minor off-axis movements when using RUPES 125 mm X-Cut Abrasive Discs, meaning it makes it easier to tackle curved surfaces when sanding with the LHR 12E.
| How To Use | Wetsanding is a specialist paint rectification process that requires a significant amount of hands on training to properly master, and should not be attempted until sufficient experience has been gained through practice on scrap panels. Furthermore, because it usually involves a relatively high degree of paint removal, it should only ever be undertaken in conjunction with a properly calibrated paint thickness gauge. For these reasons, we suggest that anyone wishing to learn how to wetsand seeks professional training in the first instance, as there is a limit to what can be learnt by reading online and, in our opinion, wetsanding falls well beyond it. |
